Better Know a Cincinnati Neighborhood: Loveland (Updated for 2026)

Overview

Loveland is a city about 15 miles northeast of Cincinnati, considered part of the Greater Cincinnati area, featuring great outdoor recreation and a lovely historic district. AreaVibes rates Loveland’s livability as “Exceptional.”

Education

Loveland falls under its own school district, and has several options for public or private education. AreaVibes rates Loveland’s education options as an “A+”, and GreatSchools.org rates Loveland City Schools with a 7 out of 10. Recreation

Loveland has a variety of parks and trails on offer for those who enjoy the outdoors, such as the 70-mile Loveland Bike Trail, a popular attraction for the entire tristate area. Loveland also offers recreation leagues for youth, and places a high value on arts and culture, featuring art shows and theater each year. Loveland Paddlesports also offers kayak rentals on the Little Miami River. In addition to the grocery and convenience stores, there is also a weekly farmer’s market. Loveland is also home to a bustling historic district, which includes the Loveland Castle Museum; there is also a local roller-skating rink.

Dining

For food and drink, residents can enjoy a wide array of options located within Loveland, including locations of popular Cincinnati franchises Skyline Chili, LaRosa’s, and Graeters, along with many local options:

  • The Works – An old firehouse that has been turned into a pizza and calzone eatery.
  • Holtman’s Donuts – Local store that boasts the best donuts in Cincinnati.
  • Loveland Dairy Whip – Local family-owned ice cream shop that has been in business for over 50 years.
  • The Veg Head – An award-winning vegetarian fast food restaurant that emphasizes low-impact, ecological food.
  • Paxton’s Grill – An American eatery in the downtown Loveland that has made the top ten list for Yelp.
  • Tano Bistro & Catering – This bistro offers a seasonal menu that always uses fresh ingredients.
  • Rodi – A frequently-recommended Italian restaurant in the heart of the historic district.
  • Ramsey’s Trailside – A restaurant created by the owners of Paxton’s Grill, with a friendly atmosphere and a historic setting.
