Free Cincinnati Summer Activity: Disc Golf

July 15, 2021 By CincyRents Leave a Comment

Disc golf is a popular summer activity for all.  You can play alone or with a large group of friends or family. The best part about it is that disc golf is free to play at parks with courses. To learn how to play, understand the rules, and learn how to do the scoring visit the Greater Cincinnati Disc Golf Association.

No matter what part of town you’re in you can find a course within 10-15 minutes from you plus its always fun to plan a day trip to visit Cincinnati’s park.  For a guide to Hamilton County or Cincinnati Parks check out the Cincy Rents articles.

Below is a list of some of the top disc golf courses in Cincinnati sorted is descending order based on their rating (1-5) from Disc Golf Course Review:

  • Mt. Airy Forest is centrally located within the city of Cincinnati and has an 18-hole course and has a rating of 4.13.
  • Johnson Hills Park in Anderson has a 9-hole course with a course map on their website.  This course has an average rating of 3.88.
  • Monroe Community Park is a unique 24-hole course.  Monroe is a bit north of Cincinnati, but for many parts of town it will be fewer than 30 minutes drive and the course has an average rating of 3.68.
  • Mason Sports Park is home to a 9-hole course with a rating of 3.36.
  • William Harbin Park is an 18-hole course in Fairfield and a score of 3.24.
  • Dunham Recreation Center is operated by the Cincinnati Recreation Commission and located on the west side and has a disc golf course and a rating of 3.13.
  • Heritage Park located in Colerain township has a full 18-hole course and a score of 3.00.
  • Woodland Mound has a full 18-hole disc golf course and has a score of 2.67.
  • Winton Woods has a full 18-hole disc golf course and has a score of 2.62.
  • Karl Von Coldewey is a course located at Leming Community Park in Milford and has a 9-hole course with an average rating of 2.61.
  • Gardner Park is centrally located in Lockland with a 9-hole course and a score of 2.60.
  • Miami Whitewater Forest in Harrison also has a 9-hole course and has a score of 2.55.
  • Embshoff Woods is located west of the city and has a 9-hole course and a rating of 2.12.
  • Burnet Woods is centrally located in uptown Cincinnati and features a 9-hole course and a score of 1.95.
  • St. Bernard’s disc golf course has 9 holes and a rating of 1.88.
  • Surge Disc Golf is located at Cincinnati State University for an urban disc golfing experience that is accessible for all.  The course has 9 holes and a score of 1.82.
  • Reserves Park in Liberty Township has a 9-hole course and has not yet accumulated ratings on DGCR so if you take a visit you can be the first to review it!

In conclusion, remember that these ratings are very subjective and some of them suffer low ratings from simply not being rated enough.  Just because one has a low average rating, doesn’t necessarily mean it’s a bad course.  In fact, there are other sites such as UDisc, PGDA, or Disc Golf Scene where you can get different ratings for each of the parks above.  Summer is long so mark a few interesting ones on your map and enjoy our parks!
