On March 22nd Ohio Governor Mike DeWine announced that COVID-19 vaccine eligibility was to be open to people age 16 and older if vaccine slots are available. This is ahead of the previously anticipated schedule that provided vaccines for that age group beginning March 29th and more than two months ahead of the national timeline outlined by President Joe Biden in his March 11th speech.
Despite this good news, the process for how to register for a COVID-19 vaccine in Cincinnati has been unclear for many. Fortunately, with vaccine supplies gradually increasing, the availability of vaccination appointments through various government and healthcare entities has expanded as well.
The official Ohio Department of Health booking system is available through its website. Local residents also can consult the Hamilton County Public Health website and Cincinnati Health Department’s website to learn more about vaccine availability. Cincinnati’s website suggests scheduling through ArmorVax, which allows those who are eligible to schedule an appointment through its app.
Those who are registered with MyChart through The Christ Hospital, TriHealth, Mercy, UC Health, or another hospital may be able to schedule directly through one of those systems. Most major pharmacies, including CVS, Kroger, Meijer, Walgreens, and Wal-Mart, have their own methods for registration. There are also large venues that are functioning as vaccine clinics, including Duke Energy Center in downtown Cincinnati and Cintas Center in Norwood. Additional venues can be found on the Health Collaborative website.
